Advion, Inc., with North American headquarters in Ithaca, NY, designs, develops, and manufactures mass spectrometers, chip-based ion sources, and microfluidic flow chemistry systems and consumables for the life sciences and related industries.  We are the growing supplier of choice for our industrial and academic customers who are demanding accurate mass analysis, higher synthetic yields/throughput, and more productive research and scale-up.  We are currently seeking to fill the following position in Ithaca:

ELECTRICAL/SOFTWARE ENGINEER – FIRMWARE

The successful candidate will have a broad knowledge of embedded hardware and firmware development, digital circuit design, and experience with system debugging and troubleshooting

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:

·          Design, develop, improve, and maintain hardware and firmware for both existing and next-generation Advion products in an embedded environment

·          Assist with the design and troubleshooting of digital circuits

·          Develop and enhance device drivers

·          Participate with engineering teams and projects to develop products and resolve existing challenges.

This position will report to the Manager, Hardware Development

REQUIREMENTS:

·          BA/BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.

·          3+ years of relevant experience, including embedded systems and electronics design

·          Strong knowledge of C and HDL programming

·          Experience programming for both FPGAs and microcontrollers is required.

·          Experience working with peripherals – A/D, SPI bus, I2C, flash, DRAM

·          Knowledge of common hardware interfaces and device driver development

·          Familiarity with an embedded Linux development.

·          Scientific Instrumentation experience is highly desirable

·          Proficient with various embedded system development tools (i.e. Vivado, MPlabX)

·          Excellent ability in troubleshooting and creative problem solving

·          Excellent verbal & written communication skills

·          Ability to work independently and as part of a team
