Join our Webinar: Self-optimising Continuous Flow Reactors

Join us for a webinar with Chris Horbaczewskyj from the University of Leeds and Jack Henion, Advion’s Chief Scientific Founder on Thursday, April 26, 2018. Chris is working on the self-optimisation of continuous flow reactions using online mass spectrometry. Continuous flow and process optimisation are relatively new methods involved in chemical synthesis. This webinar outlines the workflow of the Bourne group at the University of Leeds for process development applications.

Self-Optimising Continuous Flow Reactors Webinar

Join us for a Webinar with Chris Horbaczewskyj of the University of Leeds and Jack Henion, Advion’s Chief Scientific Founder, on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at 10am EST / 3PM GMT.

This presentation outlines the work carried out within the Bourne group at the University of Leeds for process development applications:

  1. Use of flow chemistry with online HPLC in the self-optimisation of reactions
  2. Use of online mass spectrometry for the optimisation of continuous flow reactions using an experimental design approach
  3. The development of new algorithms for multiple variable optimisation in chemical systems

Advion Launches Open Port Sampling Interface – Novel Sample Introduction enhances the analysis of proteins, peptides and antibodies

ITHACA, NY / NEW ORLEANS, LA, March 20, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — Advion, Inc., a leading systems and consumables developer for the life sciences industry, announces the release of the Open Port Sampling Interface, or OPSI, designed for simple sampling of solids, liquids, and sample preparation tips and fibers. The novel ambient sampling technique was invented by Gary Van Berkel and Vilmos Kertesz of Oak Ridge National Laboratory(1). Paired with the electrospray ion source of the expression Compact Mass Spectrometer, the product incorporates an open port of continuous small-flowing volume of solvent directly into the mass spectrometer. Any soluble sample touching the port is analyzed by the mass spectrometer in mere seconds. OPSI offers a fast assay benchtop solution for solid, liquids, and surfaces in a small-footprint, easy-to-use system.

“OPSI extends our range of ambient ionization techniques to include anything soluble in normal mass spec solvents; non-volatile compounds such as biomolecules and polymers, sample preparation substrates on pipette tips, SPME techniques, and virtually any surface from which compounds can be harvested – and all with no sample preparation,” said David Patteson, Advion CEO. “This simple and robust sampling technique, combined with our compact mass spec, is ideal for many screening and compound identification applications, benefitting labs who require fast answers and a small footprint.”

Released at the 2018 ACS National Meeting and Expo in New Orleans, LA, the OPSI sample interface for the expression CMS is available for delivery now.
