Loughborough University: Rapid In-Situ Monitoring of the Compositional Changes in Fingerprint Residues with a Direct Sampling Probe

 A direct analysis technique has been developed for the in-situ analysis of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in fingerprint residues, utilising volatile atmospheric pressure chemical ionisation (vAPCI) mass spectrometry. This technique allows for the rapid analysis of fingerprints, even following enhancement by superglue fuming or aluminium powdering.
